A nationally renowned expert, Dr. Jed Baker is the director of the Social Skills Training Project, a private organization serving individuals with autism and social communication problems. He is the author of five books, is an advisory board member for ASPEN (an information network for parents of children with Asperger Syndrome) and a behavioral consultant for several New Jersey School systems. Dr. Baker’s work has been featured on ABC World News, Nightline, the CBS Early Show and the Discovery Health Channel.

Workshop Schedule

8:00 – 8:30 a.m. Check-In & Light Breakfast
8:30 a.m. – Noon: Dr. Jed Baker

Topic: “All Kids Can Succeed: Effective Interventions for Behavioral and Social Challenges”
Covers how to identify seven common triggers; handle meltdowns; and design effective behavior prevention plans to reduce frustration and anxiety.
(3.5 CEUs Earned)

Noon – 1 p.m.: Lunch will be provided.

1 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Dr. Miriam Brous, former president, N.J. Branch, International Dyslexia Assoc.

Topic: “Dyslexia: Language-Based Learning Disabilities”
Covers appropriate screening methods; teaching strategies for intervention; maintaining learning and teaching with accommodations; and how to use new technology.
(2 CEUs Earned)

Total of 5.5 CEUs for attending both workshops.
