Gian Paul GonzalezAbout Gian Paul Gonzalez

During the New York Giants’ 2011 Super Bowl run, much of their inspiration is attributed to Gian Paul Gonzalez. Prior to the Giants’ Christmas Eve game with the NJ Jets, Gonzalez delivered the now famous “All IN” rally cry during the Giants’ chapel service. He is now widely recognized as having inspired the NY Giants to their Super Bowl victory. Gian Paul Gonzalez has been featured on ESPN, Fox News and CNN. He has traveled across the nation as a motivational speaker for the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers, West Point Military Academy, as well as many other corporate, athletic, government agencies and educational institutions.

Sessions Available

Session 1 (10:15am – 11:30am), and Session 2 (11:45am – 1pm) offer the same list of workshop titles. Please note that some workshops require both Session 1 and Session 2 titles to to be taken for professional development credit.

  1. Creating Positive Supports for Students with Attention and Executive Functioning, Dr. J. Galasso, Ph.D. describes his unique methods for working with children in the classroom. Specific methods for addressing children’s behavior are discussed.
  2. Leading in the Classroom – George Wright of Wright One Consulting will be providing strategies to enable the teacher to “lead” the staff in their classrooms and to encourage all adults in the classroom to work together.
  3. Dyslexia Training A with Maria Torres – (participants must take both sessions to receive their mandatory 2 hours professional development).
  4. Steven Heisler presents “Finding Teaching Success or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love my Job.”
  5. Verbal De-escalation Skills – Certified CPI instructors Josh Joslin and John Farris will share strategies to de-escalate potential crisis situations in the classroom.
  6. Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying – Viola Lordi, Esq. will discuss HIB implications in schools with students and staff.
  7. Alcohol, Tobacco and Drugs – Gail Connors, SAC, LCADC will cover signs, symptoms and treatment options for students who are high risk for addictive issues.
  8. Sensory Integration in the Classroom Stephanie DeVoe MS, OTR from Caldwell Therapy will discuss and demonstrate techniques to use in the classroom that can reduce behavioral issues due to sensory integration.
  9. Music in the Classroom – Peter Kalvert from Music Ascension will demonstrate activities to use in the classroom that are fun for the staff and students.
  10. Transition Planning and Implementation – Dr. John Hannum will present information and resources about transition for students in special education ages 14-22.
  11. Nurse’s Seminar – Lisa Bell, RN, BACSN – Round table discussion of current issues pertaining to special education students.
  12. De-Stressing Yoga in the Classroom – Ashrams for Autism – Yoga techniques to use in the classroom.
  13. Colors: Linking Social Skills & Emotions through Color, presented by Alexis Somers, BCBA.
