Each year New Jersey honors students, their educators, parents, schools, and the school board members that contribute to the high quality special education services in our state.
Created by resolution of the New Jersey Legislature, the second week in May is designated Special Education Week in New Jersey. This year Special Education Week in New Jersey falls on May 12-18, and the theme for Special Education Week 2024 is “Diverse Learners, Big Dreams.” ASAH is pleased to partner with The New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) to celebrate the dedication and hard work of all who contribute our state’s success in the field.
ASAH is proud to celebrate public school and approved private special education school teachers and paraprofessionals; principals and school administrators; Child Study Team members; clinicians and related services professionals; school support staff and bus drivers. We thank the local business partners who offer work-based learning to transition-aged students. And of course, we celebrate and commend families and students themselves. You are the reason we are here.
2024 Innovations in Special Education Award Winners
The annual Innovations in Special Education Awards recognize the exemplary programs and services for students with special needs provided by public school districts and private special education schools in New Jersey.
The Innovations Awards Program is sponsored by the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) and ASAH.

2024 Special Education Week Student Art Contest Winners
The ASAH Student Artwork Contest recognizes works by students in special education programs throughout the state, asking them to focus on the current special education week theme, “Diverse Learners, Big Dreams.” The winning artwork is featured in the Special Education Week poster each year.
