As we conclude ASAH’s 50th Anniversary, it seems appropriate to reflect on the vital role it serves in safeguarding the interests of students with disabilities, particularly the schools and professionals that serve them. Now more than ever, ASAH’s ability to speak with a collective voice is critical.

At the federal, state, and local levels, developments in special education policy and funding continue to emerge quickly and will have far-reaching consequences. ASAH is constantly monitoring these changes—whether it’s proposed regulations, a new piece of legislation, or a shift in administrative policy—to ensure that the voices of our member schools and the students they serve are heard. Our advocacy is not reactive—it’s proactive, strategic, and rooted in decades of experience and relationships that we continue to build every day.

Equally important are the opportunities we create to bring our community together. Upcoming events, including the Symposium for Business Office and Human Resources Personnel, our Special Education Day Event, and the Professional Excellence Awards Luncheon, along with topical roundtables and our general and regional membership meetings, provide a critical forum for learning from each other, deepening relationships, and strengthening the shared mission that binds us all. I encourage each of you to participate in these events, engage with your peers outside of them, and to always stay connected with the work ASAH is doing on your behalf.

Together, we are a powerful force for progress in special education. Thank you for your continued trust and for being a part of this essential mission.

All the best,

John J. Mulholland, Jr., Esq.
